Can I use the smart button to dim and brighten my lights?

 Yes. To dim and brighten your lights using the smart button, press and hold the button. The lights will first dim, then brighten. You can customize this action (long-press) in the Philips Hue app. The smart button is not designed to dim and brighten by turning the button on the wall plate. Though it may look like one, the smart button is not a rotary dimmer switch.

How do I install the Philips Hue smart button?

If your smart button came with a Philips Hue starter kit, set up your lights and Bridge before the smart button.

When you're ready to set it up, you can add it in the Philips Hue app:

Press and hold the smart button for three seconds to activate the device.
In the app, go to the Settings tab.
Tap Accessories.
Tap the blue + icon on the right top of the screen.
Tap Smart button and follow the on-screen instructions.

How do I replace the battery in the smart button?

Turn the button over and find the gray mark that indicates where you can open the battery compartment. Use a small, flat screwdriver to lift the back cover. Remove the old battery and replace it with another CR2032 (button cell) battery.

Larger, sleeker but just as smart. We listened and learned to our customers and we increased the diameter so it’s even easier to press the button and due to the choice of materials it will be easier to clean. The Smart button (latest model) doesn’t include the wall mount but comes with the mini mount still included. The smart button (latest model) has an IP20 rating instead of IP44 for the Smart button. The Smart button (latest model) is fitted with a stronger magnet included, so it's even easier to place on the included mini mount or any other magnetic surface. Last but not least, the battery cover will be easier to remove, in case you need to replace the battery or press the setup button.

Can I use the wall mount or mini mount of the Smart button on the Smart button (latest model)?

The Smart button (latest model) is IP20 rated, meaning it’s made for indoor use only and is not waterproof.

How do I reset the Smart button (latest model)?

Accepted Answer

Remove the battery cover on the back of the Smart button (latest model) by inserting a screwdriver into the slot and pushing the cover upwards. The setup button is found on the round area surrounding the battery. Press the button for at least 10 seconds until a red/green/orange pattern is visible on the front. When the Smart button (latest version) blinks orange, the reset is successful. If by accident you press the front button this is not a problem. The reset still will still be carried out.
